Jake at the Lake

Nick wanted to take friends on the boat this week.
But it was overheating with Chad a few weeks ago so Dan wanted to take it for a spin and make sure it was working properly. Plus, that would give Nick a chance to tow it back and forth with Dan by his side, for his first time (since we don't have a slip anymore).
And Chris got practice putting it in and parking the truck and trailer.

We got Jimmy John's and even took Kershaw and headed up around 4:00 p.m.

The bad news is the boat was still overheating, and had lost almost all its coolant Dan recently added.

But we sat just outside the no-wake zone eating our sandwiches hanging out and even jumping in the water to cool off. No one was in a hurry to leave.

So even though we didn't get to surf or play,
it was a fun place to eat dinner and be outside and be all together.

Having been immersed in Jill and Jake and The Miller Family's story (my book)
for the last six weeks, I was feeling pretty sad for their (fictional) family and their heartache.

Also feeling really grateful for my family.
