Scooters in Oslo

We decided to get around the city on electric scooters today
which is a first for us and the Howells. The Christensens are pros and I was super excited
because I've often wanted to try them in downtown SLC but didn't want to
learn in public (my public) because wasn't sure if I'd catch on quickly or not.

The hardest part is downloading the app and uploading your driver's license when you don't have one on your person and a credit card accepted in Europe. And knowing the difference between a scooter with a dead battery or one that's fully charged but you need to push off to start. But soon we were all on our way.
And it was so fun zooming all over Oslo together!

Chad took the lead and I was right on his tail. Unfortunately he thought that meant that everyone was right behind him, but that wasn't quite the case. I just liked to stay close because 1) I don't mind going fast and 2) if you're behind the leader you won't get lost.

No one got lost, but we did quite a ways ahead.

The museums we wanted to see (Munch, National Museum, Nordic Museum and Vigeland were all closed for different reasons), but the Vigeland sculpture garden was open and one of my new favorites.

At first glance it looks like dozens of sculptures of naked people.
And then you look closer.

The National Palace (these guards are allowed to talk to visitors)

Since everything else was closed, we took a vintage boat tour around the Oslo fjords which was a very cold tour of darling summer houses on the neighboring islands.

The tiny homes on the water are actually bath houses -- each home on the hill owns a house on the water -- think of them like "a pool house" with a bathroom and/or kitchen or changing room.

We had time to walk around the shops before dinner.
They were pretty high end, but we did find a Dale shop (Norwegian sweaters) and we each
got one to take home.

Also happened upon the Nio show room -- Chinese electric cars
(Nick owns some of their stock) -- and they were super cool.

We ate at a pork bbq restaurant for dinner and tried smoked whale.

We all turned in early tonight (8:30 -- so not super early),
because Dan and Chad had to work and everyone else was worn out.
Early tomorrow morning we fly out to Stauvenger.
