We arrived home from Europe at 8:00 p.m. and twelve hours later
Dan was on a plane to Wisconsin to race with Corey and the car crew.
I was so ready to relax when we got home I asked him if he was a little bummed he had to turnaround so quickly and if he wished they'd booked a different race weekend.
"No way! I'm so excited!"
In practice on Friday another car spun out and hit Dan as he passed,
taking him out for the rest of the day.
But they have two identical cars so the crew can take parts from the other car and with that and a little duct tape, the car was ready to race on Saturday.
Four mile laps at 2:35 per lap for 70 minutes at a time,
three drivers trading off for a total of six hours.
They got really familiar with the track.
Dan reported it was much more intense than Larry Miller -- narrower with higher walls
(less room for mistakes), and all the drivers were really good.
And they LOVED it!
They placed 10th which they were really excited about and
now they're looking forward to the next race with even greater enthusiasm.
I think they've got three out of state races on the calendar for the summer and Nick's hoping to get to race in some of them too.
