More Fjords, Alesund, and Oslo

Ferried from Geirenger to Einsland first thing this morning.

Very grateful to be ferrying away rather than driving up the switchbacks again.

Todays fjords were more narrow with jaw dropping homes built on cliffs.
Very similar in "how'd they do that?" to Mesa Verde.
Our ferry guide said they actually tied their children to ropes so they wouldn't fall off.

Look carefully -- there's a house in the middle of that cliff.

Unfortunately the Seven Sisters waterfall wasn’t flowing very much this early in the season and the hills weren't as plush as they are in the summer. But again, we loved the contrast of the snow, hills and water on our one hour journey by ferry. From there a two hour drive and a couple more ferry rides to Alesund with time for lunch before catching a plane to Oslo.

We love how many homes are flying Norwegian flags, a church in every village (although Chad says no one goes anymore) and the charming homes.

Alesund was another charming town we look forward to spending more time in some day.

Our hotel in Oslo is lovely and we’re excited to have time to explore the town tomorrow.

We found an Asian restaurant still open for dinner and it was delicious. We love eating local food
(Chad finally found the meatballs he was hankering for; btw, they’re called "kjottkakar,"
pronounced "shitcaca." True story),
but we’ve had great international food too. It’s a small world after all.

Thankfully after the first few nights were adjusted to the time change and sleeping through the night. I wanted to take a picture at 3:30 in the morning to see the light coming up, but I was too tired.
We've been on the go non-stop so we're exhausted by the time we get to our rooms.
And that’s a good thing.

Speaking of small world, a version of the fearless girl statue is right outside our hotel.
