Ethan's farewell talk in church was so good,
especially emphasizing what a positive influence the good examples of mentors can have on us.
(He's going to Argentina, Buenos Aires East)
The speaker before him was also amazing -- his own mother, Michelle.
She's so talented at describing analogies and capturing the eternal perspective.
I gave the closing prayer, and afterward had many people find me to say that Michelle and I have the same voice and same mannerisms. They all love Michelle and the Pauls so much and I felt extra special that I was her sister.
(Reminded me of how growing up all the kids in school loved when Grandma Regan
came to babysit while their parents were out of town.
And I had many occasions to say, "She's my real Grandma!" and everyone was so jealous!)
They had friends and neighbors over for charcuterie and treats a few hours after church ended, so we all got to change into casual clothes for the gathering. And once again everyone was excited to meet one of Michelle's sisters and tell me how much they loved her.
And once again I felt like a superstar basking in her glow!
(Also, her chocolate chip oatmeal cookies are famous!)
My favorite story of the day was a woman who had a couple of children at the preschool held in the high school. Every day Ethan would be waiting to give her kids high-5's when they arrived.
Is that the cutest? No wonder everyone loves The Paul's.
After everyone left, we went back to the church for Ethan's setting apart.
It was a little different format than Nicholas', but every bit as beautiful.
And one similarity in advice is the Stake President counseled Ethan to be himself,
just like our President encouraged Nicholas.
Ethan has unique talents and gifts and those are not only a blessing to him,
but will help him bless others.
And soon after it was time for Dan, me and my mom to head back to the airport to go home.
On the road, we passed a semi from a racing team that's raced against Nick.
This weekend's race was at Road America just a bit farther north in Wisconsin.
Little memories of Nick all the time!
