Bleak Midwinter

The days have been gray. We've had so little sun this winter in Salt Lake.
Day after day we keep getting dustings of snow.
And yet my landscaper was over this morning to talk about spring clean-up and to call her as soon as the tulips start to bloom so she can spray an essential oil that acts as a deer repellant.
Right now the beds are still covered in 6" of snow.

We are still so deep into winter it hardly seems possible spring will ever come.

Desperate for fresh air and to stretch my legs outside instead of exercising inside like I have for almost four months straight -- which is pretty unusual for me -- I bundled up and took a walk.

This little nest was a sweet reminder that some day the sun will shine again.
