Pagosa with The Ladies

Pagosa with Jenn, KT, Edie and Jennie.
It's a scrapbooking trip and chance for me to share Pagosa with my friends --
I've been counting down for two weeks.

When we arrived, about 10 men and Miko were raking thatch from the lawn.
Jennie said it looked like we were running a plantation.

We walked the south fence overlooking the river, then down to the banks (it's raging!).

Back up the hill and down the other side across the meadow and
army crawled under the barbed-wire fence to the old cabin.

After showing off the crumbled chimney and bare springs that used to make a mattress,
we hiked up an old road behind it that I'd never noticed before.

KT pointed out if we stayed up high, we'd eventually wrap back around to our place.
Pine trees rose around us in every direction as far as we could see until we were near our place again
and found a break in the fence.

We wandered back down to the marsh (that's not a marsh in May),
hopped over the creek and back into our yard,

But didn't stop until we hiked to the top of the hill in our backyard.
The whole excursion was only a mile.

We saw a complete elk skeleton,
I disposed of a dead mouse in the bunkhouse,
and we're still dealing with bug issues,
including at the end of the day discovering ticks on Jennie's forehead and in Edie's underwear!

Full elk skeleton

In the afternoon we worked outside on the couch, feet outstretched, computers in our laps,
digitally scrapbooking with the backdrop of the San Juan wilderness.

Early evening we were ready for a break so we drove to
William's Reservoir and walked to the dam.

Quinoa bowls for dinner (thanks Jenn!) and the thought of making a fire but it was really really dark, so a few people got in the sauna. We continued scrapbooking inside, played some cards and eventually went to bed around midnight.

I have two books of my blog from 2006 - 2010. But now, after today's dedicated work in between excursions, I successfully converted 2011-2021!! I am so happy!
