Another Day to Celebrate

Courtney waffled about wanting to go to Commencement.
Would it be fun or boring?
She released Michael and me from further graduation commitment
(students sat together and your two guests sat in a separate area)
except to meet her afterward (if she decided to go) for the family and graduate reception.

In the end, she woke up early to be on campus by 8:30 a.m. and was very happy with her decision.
It was super long (an hour and a half of just graduates walking in), but were grouped by majors,
so she got to sit with friends and cheer together when the President announced the engineers.

It was very celebratory with pop music, cheering and waving mementos.
Students were given blow-up toys or flags or pinwheels or other swag representing their college.
Engineers had red plastic blow-up hammer.

Michael and I waited on the lawn with crowds of other graduates and family members.
It was thrilling being among all the graduates again and the campus teeming with celebrations.
Check out this link to see the commencement from above.

The engineering reception was in the same spot as Courtney's dissertation.
It was crowded and happy with fancy food and desserts.
She took photos with friends.
She had to say goodbye to friends and colleagues and lab mates.

We're off to Philadelphia tomorrow early, early.
Michael and Courtney came over in the evening to do laundry,
we had sandwiches for dinner and watched an episode of Silo.
Apartment hunting tomorrow!
