Hot Pots Adventure

Matz and KT are very adventurous and really wanted to find the hot springs on the Piedra River outside of town. They were so enthusiastic, it was hard to resist, even if it meant an hour drive.

They were so fun and we were all super glad we went!

On the way we stopped at Courtney & Michael's wedding spot and enjoyed the view.
Most of us didn't like getting even remotely close to the edge.
Matz stood right on it. Ugh!

Sheep Creek Trail about 30 minutes west of town, and an hour door-to-door.
The road off the highway was very narrow with a few sharp turns and cliffs that made me very nervous,
but everything else about it was great!

1.5 mile hike from the trailhead. Down on the way to the river, and a climb back to the car.
Kinda steep, but not overly tough if you're in decent shape.

We've heard these hippie dips are clothing optional,
but we only met one guy who was leaving as we were arriving and another couple who turned around when they saw us. Met a few other people on the trail, but not at the hot pots.

Everyone tried cold plunging and then transferring back to the hot pots.

The biggest one was a super comfortable temp. About 95*.
Another was too hot to get in and kinda shallow.
A couple were a little mossy and not inviting, but most were incredible.

We're nicknaming them the Cheeto pots because we were eating Cheetos while soaking.

We picnicked back at the car in a pretty, grassy, shady spot...

...where you can see I was really contemplating the world we live in and life in general
(name that song!)

Tonight the Balls joined us for dinner and made briskit
(Dan had asked them to cater a work retreat that had to be cancelled.
They'd already purchased the meat, so we had them make it tonight instead.)
We've really enjoyed getting to know them--and they're fantastic cooks as well!

More good conversation in the evening and a last late night game of Rummikub.
