Heather V. Fall Social

I'm on the Relief Society activities committee and tonight we had our fall social.
Dinner and Heather V. speak about her accident two years ago where she lost both her legs in a car accident in the Costco parking lot.

She was darling and so inspirational speaking about miracles and
"It's going to be okay."

Last night five men from the Elders Quorum helped set up tables and chairs
(which only took about 20 minutes!)
and three of us ladies (plus Dan) decorated the tables.
Cheryl H. was the brainchild behind the fall decor:
*paper placemats from Amazon and matching napkins
*the committee brought all our wood boards and bowls for the table centers
*also small pumpkins in all the different colors
*Cheryl ordered a variety bread from Harmon's in all shapes and kinds--
focaccia, wheat rolls, sourdough bowls sliced, long baguettes and a pretzel design
with flavored butter and olive oil for the centerpieces.
*she accented with grapevine vines which look like small pumpkin vines. It was gorgeous!

I only took pictures of before when the bread and greenery wasn't out, which doesn't do it justice.

But here's the food table before the food arrived.
(Ziti pasta, salad, bread and chocolate mousse for dessert).
Ladies signed up to bring the pasta and salads and the mousse was from Costco,
super good, a great value and in cute glass containers.
Pro tip: Cheryl also had us take the labels off the water bottles and it made it a little more classy.

The greatest thing about this activity is our committee.
We each took a job that didn't stress us out.
As a group we brainstormed food, decor and dessert.
Katie made the invite on Canva, I printed and cut and organized the delivery.
We all hand delivered to a couple streets near our home.

Rebecca printed the posters for the sign-boards, put them on display and was in charge of plates and silverware.

Cheryl and CK planned and organized everything for decorations.

Jane was in charge of food sign-ups and the pasta recipe.
She also got tins for cooking and delivered to everyone.
(Another pro tip for next time: clear plastic salad bowls from dollar store so those who sign up for a salad know how much to make. We had lots of large ones and tons of extra food.
This isn't my first rodeo, so I brought takeaway tins so everyone could take leftovers home (always a HUGE hit!), but it's always a little sad when people bring food that isn't needed.)

Elise decided on the dessert and bought and delivered it.

Those of us without small children helped set-up the night before.
(three of us had it done in an hour.)

Those who could came an hour ahead of time to finish setting-up tonight.
(About five of us.)
The RS Presidency and committee who could stayed after to clean up which took about an hour.

I never stressed about it once.
It was so great--we had just the right amount of people to each take a job that was manageable for them.
I made it clear if you couldn't set-up or clean-up or deliver invites,
that was okay because there were others who could.
It turned out fantastic.

I'm so grateful for our dependable, creative, organized group!
