Several years ago Jack and Nick played baseball together for a couple years and we spent lots of hours in the bleachers with his parents. In September, Jack's dad died of a heart attack while exercising.
Today Jack and his mom, Tracy, hosted a celebration of life to honor Rich -- it was his birthday.
It was lovely to catch up with the baseball friends we hadn't seen in years and see the boys all grown up.
But so, so hard to see Jack's heartbreak. I hope it was helpful in his grief to be hugged by all his friends one more time and all their parents and know there is a community who he (and his mom) can lean on.
