Lake Lackawaxen and More

Dan took us on a 10.5 mile hike today!
We started at Empire Pass and started by walking up the ski hill on a dusty dirt road in the unseasonally hot sun through dry weeds, deer poop and an occasional tree whose leaves had already shriveled and died for the season.
It felt a lot like pioneer trek. If we were the only ones around and we were marching straight uphill.

But eventually we made it to the trailhead to Blood's Lake off Guardsman's Pass (which we both agreed would have been a much better starting place if you ever take this hike.) From here it turned from a death march into an actual hike with pines, aspens, people, trails and lots and lots of lakes.

Blood's Lake to Lake Lackawaxen to 10420 Peak and looped around through the outskirts of a
Girl Scout Camp, across the road to a trail that follows the road and finally down the road back to our car.

From the other direction you see into Brighton and three of its lakes.

It turned out to be a fun adventure and a great way to spend the day!
And there's a lesson in there about not complaining when something doesn't seem very fun to begin with.
But I'm way to tired to sort it out.
