Hermosillo, Mexico Mission!

So excited for Chris to get called to the Hermosillo, Mexico Mission!
My dad would have been off the charts excited!

He got the text from the church that his call was available at 9:15
while he was in seminary. His teacher let him leave to come home and open it.
He opened his call privately in his room then called Courtney to tell her.
(Courtney was flattered!)

Then with a big smile on his face he said goodbye to me and went back to school.
I asked if he was going to tell anyone before tonight
and at first he said, "no," then he said he wasn't sure!

At lunch he came home again. This time he was bursting with excitement and you could tell he was dying to talk about his big "secret!"

Nine of the eleven boys in their friend group had received their calls.
He and Logan were the last ones and they both got it today.
When he got back to school, Logan told him where he was going -- which was also Mexico!
Chris was so excited they were going to the same place he told him he'd been called to
Mexico as well.
(Logan is going to the Torreon Mission)
Then he had to tell his buddy, Will, he was going to the Mexico MTC the same day as him!

He told me all of this without saying where he was going. But he did say it was to the Mexico MTC.
So I knew he was going to learn Spanish. But didn't know if it was stateside or foreign.
(It seems like most States Spanish speakers go to the Mexico MTC.)
I also knew he and Logan were going to the same country.

He and Logan decided to open their calls together at our house...
Actually, it's more of a "reveal" party now since they know where they're going but the rest of us don't! Logan had a soccer game so we had to wait until 9:30 p.m!
But it was fun to look forward to and fun to have everyone gather to support them!

Sheree got a photo of shoes in the entryway!

The final count:
Will -- Peru
Jake -- Cape Verde
Luke -- Sierra Leone
Chris -- Mexico
Jay -- waiting a year
Logan -- Mexico
Noah -- Kenya
McKay -- Brazil
Jojo -- Thailand
Jon -- San Francisco/Oakland, California
Cole -- Japan
Austin -- Indianapolis, Indiana

Good memories of the family trip to Mexico and driving to Nogales, parking the car at the local Bishop's house and then boarding the train to Puerto Vallarta, Mazatlan, Los Mochis, did we go to Copper Canyon? then home. Trains and buses. Wow. Memories.

And now Chris will be living there. Not as far south as those areas, but so close.
