Resourceful

Well Crap. Nick lost his phone while skiing on Saturday.
He has the Worst track record with his phones. And he's not a careless kid. He's downright responsible.

But he has bad phone luck. And he's had to spend so much money getting them fixed. But this time there was no phone to fix so he had to buy a new one (Well, not new. But used.)

So we came up with an idea... gather all the obsolete Apple electronics sitting around the house and sell it on e-bay. Most of it hasn't been touched in several years and neither Dan nor I are ever going to get the gumption up to sell it. Plus, it was a good opportunity for Nick to learn how to do it.

Well, as you can imagine, Saturday he listened to our idea but was close to tears in disappointment the whole night so it was hard to move forward. But Sunday after church he was ready to work. I told him to go look in our old nightstand drawers (now in Courtney's room and we've never bothered to even clean them out. I wonder when we'll ever get around to it?) Check my office for my old iPad mini. Last used on the family Europe trip to blog in 2013. Dad's old laptop. In addition to the iPad and laptop, he also found two iPhone 5's, an iPhone 4, an iPhone 3, an iPod and my iPod shuffle.

Dan helped him with the first listing. Then he took the photos and listed the other four items by himself. (He looked up values for the 3, iPod and shuffle, but they aren't worth a dime.) Yesterday he got his first Buy It Now on the 4. I taught him how to package it up and he figured out the label printing details and we delivered it to the post office. He only made $9 after fees, but he spent less than an hour working on it so felt like it was a good return! The other items are generating a lot of bids and he should make enough to pay for the new phone! Yay!
