Day trip to Villafranche-sur-mer to wander the quaint narrow streets of Old Town.
It’s a million degrees again and we’re sweating buckets
but grateful for the shade between walls and sea breeze.
Next stop, the charming posh town of
Cap Ferrat
covered with amazing villas.
We toured the Villa de Ephrussi de Rothschild
and strolled and sweat through the gorgeous gardens,
so grateful for dessert in the air conditioned restaurant afterward.
We got home by 4:00 and were so ready for a shower and an afternoon nap but I really really really thought we should swim in the Mediterranean. Since we’re here. Literally staying across the street.
Dan was going with my plan to be a good sport because we were so hot and so tired crossing the street sounded pretty complicated. But we’re so glad we went! We both ended up loving it!!
The beach is rocky and initially not super inviting because it isn’t soft. But the advantage is you don’t get sticky and sandy! The water was perfectly calm and so relaxing to simply float.
But we had to watch our time because we had a 7:00 dinner reservation and still needed a nap after our swim. We slept on our outside patio on the loungers with the sounds of the city and beach goers below. Magical!
We chose a tapas place for dinner with a early reservation so we could get home earlier and sleep sooner. We had to wake the boys up for dinner and then had to wake up Miles a few times during dinner! 😂
Jet Lag is brutal!
Dinner lasted two and a half hours and we were all dying trying to figure out a polite way to say “can you bring all the food at once?”
We didn’t figure it out.
Eventually we got to finish and leave and head back home to crash for the night. It’s 93* even at night!
Looking forward to a balmy 87* tomorrow.
