Monaco and the Monte Carlo

Everyone was excited to get up early and drive to Monaco and tour the Monte Carlo casino.

Dress code was required so the boys were looking pretty fly—but we also brought shorts to change into in the car. (That being said, tons of people were wearing shorts and tennis shoes, so they weren’t that strict).

The cars out front were as exciting as the inside of the casino. Maybe more so. My first Bugatti sighting.
Ferraris with bugs on them—they’re daily drivers. Not brought out of garages for a trip around the block.

Four Rolls Royce’s. A gold SUV RR. Several Bentleys (that the guys think are wannabe cool cars.) Lots od Lambos. Including two Ventadors back in Nice.

Inside the Monte Carlo was fun to see but I don’t get that excited about gambling, so a bit underwhelming.

After we changed, hiked through town, past the harbor and lots of fancy yachts, along the Grand Prix route and to the Palace to watch the changing of the guard.

We were literally drenched in sweat by the time we got there and thrilled with an extra 30 min to sit in the shade and grateful for a sea breeze.

I’d heard Nick and Miles talk about finding a gym a few times on this trip and realized they were finding Pokémon Go gyms!

Afterward we walked through the narrow streets near the Palace then back down to find somewhere with AC for lunch. Found it at a sushi place Nick had remembered.

On the way home, Dan got a few minutes on the Grand Prix route himself, albeit in our “opera cross trek” rental car. We don’t even know what brand it is!

Drove through the charming town of Eze that we will look forward to getting to know on another trip when it isn’t so hot.

Passed this yacht in Nice’ harbor. Won best in design for yachts in 2019.

Forced the boys to get in the ocean with us. It was a little rougher today than yesterday so not as relaxing, but lots of topless bathers so a win-win for the boys.

We didn’t stay long, just enough to cool off before our naps. I mean before the Nike shoe drop, then our naps. Unfortunately no one got selected to be able to purchase shoes on the drop.

We had a room credit so room service on our outdoor patio was a perfect place for dinner and out for crepes and gelato after.

The boys were still dead asleep by 8:30 so Dan had to wake them up. I get it, it’s hard for me to wake up at night too!

Matching Yeezys

It’s been fun, Nice! Tomorrow we head to the hills—Aix de Provence.
