Michael's Birthday!

Happy 32, Michael!
I packed a banner, Courtney packed a banner and gifts and glasses (and cookies!) and Fabiola had lights and made breakfast burritos to start the day off right.

Some things I like about Michael are his sense of humor (I really love his humor), how well he explains and summarizes things, his creativity and confidence, his cute smile and how he's always up for having fun. I admire how much he values and nurtures his friendships and am impressed with his athleticism --
soccer, biking, Spartan, running (he got in to the NYC marathon!). And did you also know he played hockey for all his growing up years and lacrosse for a lot of it?
He's easy to talk to, curious about the world, is a world-traveller and such a thoughtful conversationalist.

And especially how much he loves Courtney. And how much she loves him.
That's what I love the very most.
We're so lucky to have him as part of our family!

This morning Nim had us on a strict schedule to get a spot at the coveted Lime Out floating taco bar for lunch! If there's one thing I respect, it's a detailed plan.
After breakfast we sailed back to Coral Bay and tied on to a buoy.
At 10:20 Dan and I were ready to dinghy over to the restaurant to be ready to swim for a table when people were allowed to sit at exactly 10:30.

Everything worked perfectly as we coordinated with other hoverers over which table we each were going for. At 10:28 we grabbed our "table" along with a flood of other people and by 10:35 the bar area was also full.

Then Nim went back to the boat to get everyone else.
Food service began at 11:00

Tacos and drinks were floated over to our table floats as well as our cute new t-shirts and hats.
So clever and fun! And surprising that more food doesn't fall in the water!

After lunch we had a three? four? five? hour tour back to St. Thomas.
While the guys read and lounged, Courtney and I both had to lay with our eyes closed staving off potential sea-sickness. A couple times I sat up and immediately had to lay back down again.
It was a long trip. One I would try to shorten if we come again.
Apparently we sailed too. But I couldn't open my eyes long enough to check it out.

But we finally arrived at a bay tucked into the airport runway.
Which doesn't sound as lovely as it was. Actually, watching the planes come in and take off added to the fun of the spot. It really was pretty.

Michael's dirthday dinner was delicious -- steaks and sweet potatoes with lights and disco ball effects.
Chocolate ganache cake for dessert.

Did I mention the Tarpin that swam around the boat last night? They were back again tonight.
Three were circling last night and of course at first we thought they were sharks.
Because isn't every big fish a potential shark?
Fabiola casually called through the sliding doors, "They're called Tarpin."

We watched them for a long time again tonight. At least six of them.
They're so mesmerizing. In the same way you're transfixed watching a campfire.
