Slept great again last night and woke up at 7:00 when the boat engine rumbled to life.
Nim was moving us closer to the good snorkeling reef and it felt like being a kid at Lake Powell
when the houseboat starts up and you realize Dad is getting you to a better spot.
(Of course I've always been the parent at Lake Powell, but its so fun to be the kid again -- Nim looking out for us and Fabi as the mom making us all our meals and tidying up every time we leave the boat so everything is organized and clean when we return. It's awesome!)
Morning snorkel while Fabiola made avacado toast with rainbow radish garnish for breakfast.
She's an amazing chef, her food is fresh and colorful and beautifully presented. We are being spoiled!
Then Nim dropped us back off at the beach.
We're going to hike on the other side of the cove up to the original Murphy House --
the owner of the sugar plantation. Then over to the other side of the island while they boat around and meet us there.
Our hike is hot, hot, hot at 11:00 a.m.
I was too lazy to change from my wet bathing suit and I'm glad I didn't--
it cooled me off a lot better than those who were hiking dry.
But look at these amazing views!
Another large family passed by and I was shoulder-to-shoulder with the mom when we both took double-takes (literally it was slow-motion, like a movie) and removed our sunglasses to get a better look...
Amy? Angela?
A friend in my "ladies' group" (The Jenn P, KT J. group) from back home.
What are the chances?! Neither of us had any idea we were taking our spring breaks in the same place.
The hike took us only an hour and a half into the town next to Coral Bay, but we were hot and thirsty and glad to have Nim pick us up and shuttle us back to the boat in two groups. He was giddy because he got the private spot he was hoping for.
Waiting for Nim and dreaming of cold soda.
Look how steep the road is heading up to the houses!
A private cove all to ourselves! It was absolutely spectacular!
Then an afternoon of snorkeling through the mangroves
seeing GIANT ;-) conch shells, and Courtney and I avoiding seeing another barracuda that the boys saw hiding in the trees below the water. We also missed out on the giant starfish, but I'm glad Nick saw it.
So many colors of coral of different varieties -- brain coral, leaf, squiggly, tubes, etc. in purple, red, green and yellow. Then Courtney and I paddle boarded.
The boys watched some Pirates tonight on the laptop. Also played catchphrase. Double Ditto last night.
