Stockholm is so beautiful! I wished I’d captured the charming buildings at a closer view—
But we’re often across the water!
We’re staying at The Grand Hotel.
Walked to The Vasa Museum (a ship that capsized in the harbor heading out on its maiden voyage in the 1600’s. Rescued from the sea in the 1970’s) and beautifully preserved.
Changing of the guard and all it’s pageantry at The Royal Palace.
Boat tour out of Stockholm and into the archipelago to see all the beautiful stugas
(cabins or summer homes) on hundreds of little islands.
This one is where a singer of ABBA lives!
Walk through Old Town and souvenir window shopping and antique stores. Cute hand painted wooden horses are a very iconic/traditional Swedish collectible, Pippi Lockstocking is apparently Swedish, and the little flat square decorative rags that are all the rage at the Utah boutiques right now also apparently are from Sweden. Almost bought some sweet antique Christmas dishes. But didn’t know how to pack them home.
I could spend at least another day here looking in antique shops in Old Town.
Everything closes by 5:00 so you've got to pack everything in early.
I never mind not having enough time to do everything we want to because it just means we have something to look forward to on the next trip! Tomorrow morning we leave to Norway!
Last but not least, dinner at what turned out to be a Nordic theme restaurant.
But the food was great and it was actually a fun vibe.
Let the record show we tried reindeer sausage and moose heart.
Adding these two pics. View out our hotel window at 11:30 pm — had just gotten full dark by 11:00 pm.
And this at 4:38 am.
Last night and tonight Dan and I both woke up around 2:00 a.m.--wide awake. So we surf the internet, catch up on e-mails, talk about New York apartments until we're exhausted and fall back to sleep for a couple of hours.
