Making Space

I arrived in NYC last night to help Courtney and Michael get their new apartment organized! (Courtney has great ideas, but it's so helpful to have someone who is equally as excited about trips to The Container Store and Bed Bath and Beyond to work with and bounce ideas off.)

I've been looking forward to seeing their new apartment! The only kink to the plans is Courtney got Covid! Fortunately she was over the worst of it when I arrived. (I tested negative in spite of feeling achy and tired a couple of days December 31 and having that very unique and so familiar Covid headache (after it being a constant companion for a month in 2020). But I tested negative and that's that.) So we've been wearing masks always and socially distancing while eating and its working out fine.

I remember when Courtney came home for a few hours fall of 2020 and then stopped by again Thanksgiving 2020 for a few hours while spending most of the holiday with the Petersens (in Utah) because we were just recovering from Covid. And we both wore masks the whole time and it was super disappointing and lame to try to talk to someone -- especially someone you love -- with a mask on.

But now, it's no big deal. Weird!

Their apartment is perfect, has so much charm with original stained wood doors, windows and cabinets. They're on a corner with unobstructed street views on the 7th floor which is amazing for light and visual appeal. It's a great layout with french doors, decent bathroom size and a beautiful lobby with friendly doormen. And the building has a common rooftop deck. It's so fun to finally see it in person. And them!

Our first order of business is to go through all the closets and evaluate storage needs and efficiency. Made extra space on a few shelves already!

Pre-planning sessions...
