Emi's Blessing Weekend

Emi's baby blessing weekend!
We flew with Rosens on Saturday morning and had an extra seat on the plane,
so Lizzie's Grandma Joan got to come too.
We loved having a weekend with the Rosens and Grandma Joan.
They are so enjoyable to be with and so fun to talk to.
I am so grateful my children have such wonderful in-laws and extended families!

We met for lunch on the way home from the airport.
Emi was a bit fussy and try as I might, I couldn't settle her down.
Marty knew exactly what to do. He put her in her carseat, took her outside and
swung the seat back and forth. Sure enough, it worked.

I love love love watching Marty as such a capable, confident dad.
He's absolutely darling with Emi.
Watching your children become parents is magic.
Grandma Joan said even when your kids are 65, you still enjoy watching them
tackle new things in life and you never stop being proud of them.

We hung out at the apartment for a couple of hours all taking turns
loving on Emi. (And getting spit up on! 😂 )

This is Dan's "chicka chika chicka" as he tickles her face.

Three fingers jammed into her mouth as often as she can.

Emi loves talking and talking to herself in the mirror!
And do we think my big mouth full of large fangy teeth, sharp chin and pointy witch's nose
might be a little scary for a baby?
(I reminded myself my kids loved my smile.)
Let's just focus on how darling Emi is smiling at herself!

We bundled up to go to zoo lights--our minivan with the five parents/grandparents
and Lizzie's Honda with Marty & Lizzie and Emi, Nick and Chris in the back.
But unfortunately zoo lights were sold out.
Fortunately we figured that out soon after we left.

Called an audible and headed downtown to see "the mile-high tree."
Unfortunately there was a light parade at the same time same place.
(Not a very interesting one.)
And the traffic was slow and parking insane.
Fortunately we found a spot and Grandma Joan has a new knee
so we could walk over to the tree and Christkindlmarket.

Unfortunately, after we walked around for 30 minutes, the other car was still 20 minutes away,
Emi was crying and they had to abort.
Fortunately, Chris and Nick are very patient with a crying baby.
(Rach, remember when Courtney was screaming her head off and you screamed back at her!
LOL, Dying!)

They got our name on the waitlist at a steak place with a bloomin' onion
(my favorite!) and fried pickles and though it was crowded, the wait a little long
and our table a bit small for all 10 of us,
we were with people we love, had fun conversation and great food,
lots of sports talk and other talk and Lizzie is a PRO now
at nursing Emi in public (under the nursing cover)!

Back at Marty & Lizzie's, they got Emi to bed and then we played Scum
around the table.
Really, it was the perfect day.
