Phoenix Family

We made a quick overnight trip to Phoenix to see Gram and spend our Christmas present together. Tickets to Evita!

Funny story... at Christmas we mailed Gram's gift off to her for us to come to Phoenix and go to Evita together. A few days later we went to Jo and Kelly's home and opened their gift to us which was the Casablanca Symphony... on the same day as Evita! A sort of Gift of the Magi! Ha, ha! They were kind enough to change the night to Friday so we could do it all!

Chris couldn't come because he wanted to go to the high school basketball playoff game (for the last few years in a row they've played in the state championship.) As it turned out they lost Friday night. But he stayed home anyway. On Thursday, Nick found out he had a wrestling tournament on Saturday. So he couldn't come either. So it was just Dan, Marty and I.

6:15 a.m. Ready to go to his wrestling tournament! He won 2 out of 3!

We flew in Saturday morning. Had a nice brunch at Gram's and enough time for a visit and nap, then Marty took an Uber to meet Duncan, JD, Adam and Curtis at Dodgers Spring Training against the D-Backs.

Dan, Gram and I headed to Evita. Great music and fascinating story. They showed photographs throughout of Evita and photos from current events of the time. It was almost like a history lesson -- set to Andrew Lloyd Webber songs. I didn't love it so much that I'd see it again, but it was a great show and fun to hear several songs performed that I'd known, from his Greatest Hits CD, but hadn't seen performed.

We met at Duncan and Kristin's afterward for a delicious dinner and visiting outside in the balmy Phoenix evening. Low 70's -- heaven! We got to catch up with all the kids AND see baby Lyla! So fun!

Today we went to church with Gram then had lunch with Marty and Erin afterward. Always fun visiting with them too!

Fun reminder of mine and Dan's wedding! Gram made one of each person at the breakfast.
Look at these beautiful grapefruit outside our window!
I'm bringing these home... along with Erin's Christmas toffee!

Then we flew back home -- Dan to Hawaii for business and Marty and I home just in time for me to get Nick and three friends and drive to American Fork for a Jamboree meeting. Whew! Didn't get home until after 9! And Chris and friends are all downstairs at 10:30 loudly talking and acting like its not a school day tomorrow

Oh man... Senioritis. Will we get any sleep between now and the end of the school year?

Another cool thing... I sat next to Elder Brian Taylor on the way out to Phoenix. He was the GA who spoke at our general conference and told a story about Pres. Nelson and mission calls. He was friendly.
