A Full House

Last night we learned that a friend (we had just reconnected at the neighborhood lunch last week)
was hit by a car in the Costco parking lot and had to have her leg (below the knee) amputated with worry that the other might not be saved either. To top it off, her husband was the trauma surgeon on call.
Her son was one of Courtney's best friends, Chris grew up with her daughter and she's the aunt of one of Nick's best friends. What a shock.
We joined neighbors in covering their front porch with poinsettias, a Christmas tree, garland and bows on the mailboxes on the street to show our love and support.

I went with Courtney and Michael downtown to deliver some Sub for Santa gifts then lunch at Red Rock.
It's been a while since we've eaten there, but its as good as we remembered.

Tonight we had dinner downtown and went to Home Alone with the Symphony.

And like every other night this week where we've gotten home late,
we stayed up later working on the puzzle,
watching a show (Netflix' Unfortunate Events tonight)
and doing Legos.

So grateful for time with my family.
Today I keep thinking how everything can change in an instant.
(The outlook for Heather's other leg looks good and she's responding (hand squeezes) to family.)
