Sleep In, Turtles, Waterfalls and BBQ

We decided to go to late church this morning.
Now that we're getting a little more acclimated to the time change, we slept in all the way to 8:00!
It's been nice having leisurely mornings on this trip.

We went to an 11:30 ward but it turned out to be the Marshallese language branch.
We drove to another building to hit the YSA's 12:00 meeting.
Perfect.

Quick change in the bathroom and we were ready for our Twin Falls hike.

Actually first we stopped for pizza at the Flatbread Pizza Company in Paia
and Ululani's shave ice (the best we've had!)

Then we stopped to see the waves and kite surfers on the North Shore.
So glad we did because we saw something we've never noticed before, even though we stop here every trip.

See all those rocks?

We saw a group of people looking at them too. So we looked harder.
And when we realized they were dozens of turtles, we ran down off the bluff to get a closer look.
We watched for a really long time. It was so fascinating to watch them move right over each other.
Or slowly make their way to the ocean. They'd move a little bit and then rest. Then go a little bit further before another rest. And the sea lions went right over the turtles too!

We found all four waterfalls at Twin Falls and the road and paths are clearly marked too.
I've usually been too chicken to go without a guide because I don't want anyone jumping into unsafe water. But we've had a guide three times before so we recognized the jumping pools.

We got home just as the sun was setting.
We put the potatoes in the oven, then all went over to the hot tub to warm up.

Afterward, Dan grilled steaks like he always does in Hawaii on Sunday night.

We sat around the outdoor table for three hours. It was lovely.
Our time together too short. But on the other hand, we maximized our time with
lots of fun activities, talks, laughs, spontaneity and lots and lots of chocolate covered macadamia nuts
(and toffee chocolate and coconut chocolate and salted caramel chocolate...).
 It's been a great trip!
