Love is in the Air

Our whale watch excursion wasn't until 10:45 which was a perfect start time as it gave all of us a chance to walk or run or do convict conditioning in the morning.
I love mine and Dan's morning walk routine in Hawaii.
We can't wait to live there for a month each winter in a few years.
Yep, this is Dan's plan and I'm all for the sun and sea and warmth in the middle of winter.

We're always up before the sun comes up on the first day (three-hour time change),
so I got a good long time to stretch before we headed out just after 6:00.

Happy Valentine's Day!
We took it slow and walked to Makena Landing.
We sat and watched the kayakers head out for the morning.

Too bad I didn't take a photo of our fruit salad.
Papaya, pineapple, apples, oranges, bananas and macadamia nuts.
I know I could buy the same fruit here, but it's so much better
with an ocean and palm trees out the back door.

We took our whale watch tour from Kihei which was nice to have it so close.

Twice we had whales surface so close to the boat.
Suddenly we heard the "snort" of a blow and turned to see them surfacing near us.

We watched a playful baby flap his tale around and further in the distance
watched two large whales breech several times together --
they were synchronized breeching.

Nick getting air as we bounced over waves on the way home.
As we came back to shore, our guide handed Nick and Courtney a muffin to hold out for the birds.
Nick is a bird whisperer.

So fun to be with our cute couples in love on this trip!

We had a few hours after we got back.
Dan and I went to rest and read on the grass overlooking the ocean
and the kids went down together to play in the waves.

Marty loves to tease Lizzie and she takes it like a champ -- even getting thrown in the plunge pool!
Dinner at Nick's was extra extra special.
And after the main event, we had
flambe' strawberries for dessert.
