Marty and Lizzie Shaeffer!

It was really a low-stress day. The wedding was small and simple, elegant and profound.
I even went out on a walk in the morning to clear my head and get the blood flowing.

Then I made a quick trip to JoAnn's to get a swath of white flowy fabric for the arbor.
And to Target to look for a little box for the rings. (But what I had at home was better!)

Meanwhile Dan cleaned the patios and walkways and got chairs set up.
Cleaning crew was cleaning the house and the outdoor pool house, furniture and pool.
Dan helped Marty run errands like cleaning his car and taking some things to their new apartment.

At 2:00, Liv, the flower girl came to work on flowers.
The cake arrived at 3:00.
I showered and did my hair around 2:00 and so amazing, my hair turned out really cute!
Sidenote, after not wearing makeup for six weeks, I couldn't even remember where everything was.
(Still in my vacation makeup travel bag.)

At 5:00 I got dressed and the Rosen family and Lizzie started to arrive!
(Lizzie and mom and sisters went to the guest room to get ready!)

Then... wedding!

We had dinner with the two families.
(Catered by "Have Party Will Travel" and served by Dan & Angela as there were concerns about too many hands on the serving utensils. #CoronavirusWedding Worked out great!)

Everyone went around and introduced themselves which was fun for us to get to know Lizzie's family better. Then the parents gave nice comments/toasts about Marty and Lizzie.

Mine: I love Lizzie's laugh, her willingness to pitch in. She asks thoughtful questions and is a great conversationalist and listener. Plus a fun competitive spirit in games that I knew Marty loved.
Marty is smart and has a sweet, tender side. Always willing to give me a hug on his way out the door -- even in junior high and high school. He loves to play games -- is great at explaining and teaching them to us. Fun that the Rosen's love to play games too.

At 6:45, a man in a suit pulled up on a Harley. It was Dave Child, a close friend and stake president of the Rosen family, who was going to perform the ceremony.
We all cleared our dishes and the Rosen's were ready to start cleaning up, but I told everyone we were just leaving the dishes -- we all went outside to enjoy the wedding!

I was SO glad Marty and Lizzie could each invite a few friends.
It made their wedding seem that much more celebratory to have not only their siblings and parents, but their closest friends get to enjoy it with them.

Marty had Ethan and Haley, Johnny and Lauren, Matt, Thomas, Aldo and Lance.
Lizzie had Missy, McKenna, Leslie, Alyse and a couple of their spouses as well.

Then Bubsy, Lizzies little sister (Erica), began to play the harp.

President Child gave beautiful advice and was so sweet and happy.
Then he conducted the ceremony and they said their "I Do's."
There was the most tender spirit and so much joy and happiness.
It may have been different because of the circumstances,
but it couldn't have been more beautiful or happy!

So glad Courtney and Michael could be there via FaceTime.

Then the photographer took lots of photos and while we weren't having photos, we got to visit with Marty's friends and get to know Lizzie's family and friends better.

And her siblings got to work on the car!

Lizzie made sure that her youngest sister caught the bouquet.
(She may have been the only single girl there!)

Then they cut the cake (cookie dough layer!)

And the Rosen's brought eclairs from Don's in Centerville as well.
(A Rosen family wedding tradition.)

While the bride and her dad danced, Marty and I danced too.
Then Marty and Lizzie had their dance to,
"Can't Help Falling In Love With You."
And Huge points to Marty for spinning and dipping her and giving her a kiss!
I hope the professional photographer caught that on film!

While Lizzie changed out of her wedding dress friends and family danced and chatted.
Then we lined up along the path to the gate and lit sparklers as they ran past to their car.
(And then they did it again because the photographer's flash didn't work.)

The cute couple drove away to the Grand America for a few nights.
They'll take their big honeymoon to Japan when we can travel again.

We said goodbye to friends after they left, and when I got back to the house,
there were all the Rosen family laughing and doing the dishes.
Gosh, it seemed a lot like my sisters. Made me fall in love with them even more.

Clean-up was a cinch and everybody had gone home before 10:00.
Such a wonderful, wonderful night!

We are so excited to have another Shaeffer in the family!!

And perfect weather too! A few girls were wearing their husband's suit coats,
but it was super comfortable being outside. (Remember this when we have their big reception!)
