Dyker Heights is known for extravagant light displays throughout dozens of blocks in the neighborhood.
It was an easy hour subway ride plus 20 minute walk to get to the southern part of Brooklyn,
but the festivity didn't disappoint.
Over 50% of the houses were decked out and we heard that even more would be lit
later in the month.
We wandered from 10th to 13th Avenues between 83rd and 86th streets
The benefit of going the first week of December is we didn't have thick crowds.
Lots of people, but plenty of walking space as well.
Lights are on from 5:00 - 10:00 p.m.
Several hot chocolate/ice cream trucks were parked at many intersections,
along with a popcorn truck.
Also a burger shop (looked like Shake Shack) on the walk toward the neighborhood
had yummy-looking food (we didn't eat), but we did use the bathrooms and weren't questioned about buying food.
The subway was above ground for part of the ride
adding more lights to the night's activity.
