Barber Race Report--Podium!

Nick took 3rd in his race today!
Podium!!

Yesterday's race report:
Dan, Corey and Chris Stone took 6th place in their Enduro in Wisconsin
and Dan felt really good about his times.

Nick was racing his first Porsche series down at Barber in Birmingham, Alabama,
His car was on the race landing page!

He qualied in 4th place and a racer in front of him had a penalty and had to start at the back of the pack.
Nick passed a car ahead of him right away and raced in second place nearly the whole race.

He had some really cool shoutouts during the race mentioning he wouldn't be racing a full season because he was going on a "mission trip" with his church.
They also said his dad would be taking over the car and racing in the series.
So fun to hear the announcers talk about him!

After a full-course yellow flag, Nick had an opportunity to pass the first place,
but she didn't see him, turned into him and he swerved out of the way.
He hit a curb and bumped into her and lost control and spun out.

Fortunately, he was able to get back on track and finished 14th.
But oh! What a bummer!

When Dan talked to him that night he reported that Nick was in great spirits.
So happy with how he'd driven so well in a new car and was super pumped to have another run at it.
His coaches were impressed that he didn't get hot-headed and remained so positive.

I'm in New York for the day before heading to London with Dan this evening.
Felt like the whole city was enjoying the warm weather on a weekend day in Central Park.
Kids on scooters riding alongside their parents.
Baseball games on every diamond from children to adults.
The tennis courts were full as were the basketball courts.
A ladies half-marathon was finishing.
Lots of picnickers sprawled across the lawn.
And group yoga overlooking the pond and Belvedere Castle.
The pink blooms on all the cherry trees were at their fullest.
So spectacular.
