Typhoon in Japan

Huge flooding in Hiroshima, Okinawa and throughout Marty's mission! I woke up and saw the news on my phone. Curious if there would be more info on the mission Facebook page, I logged on. There wasn't much about the floods yet, but I saw an announcement about Marty's Mission President's homecoming in Kaysville that afternoon! President and Sister Egan.

Dan, Nick, Marge and I went. It was fun to hear them speak and meet this couple Marty loves so much. The meeting was filled with their missionaries who even sang Called To Serve in Japanese. Dan sent Marty photos and he said he recognized quite a few. We waited amongst the huge crowds of missionaries who were so happy to see them and give them hugs. It was clear how much they both loved the missionaries in return.
Marty's trainer. Dan recognized him!
When we met Pres. Egan, he said Marty was very obedient missionary and had transitioned well into missionary life right from the beginning. It was clear from his talk that obedience was very important to Pres. Egan. The bishop who was introducing him said he's asked a couple of Elders to give him "the inside scoop" on Pres. Egan. One missionary said an interview with him was like looking into the eyes of an angel who was also holding a double-barreled shotgun. Ha, ha!
I'm assuming this is Marty's comp. But he didn't say, so we're not sure. ;-)

Marty's letter gave a small insight into the storms this week. The highlight is because of the typhoon, he was able to take a bullet train! Love him!

Hello Everyone! what a crazy week it was!
So it started off pretty normal and we had DTM and stuff, but on Thursday we went to do Exchanges with the ZLs and then after that went to Another area for a baptismal interview, we then got stuck there for a little while because the rain shut down like all of the freeways!! We finally got back to hiroshima which is the ZL area that night and crashed there, unfortunately all the trains were shut down, our sacrament meeting was also cancelled in Saijo so we went in Hiroshima and then were able to make it home on a bullet train, and Ive always wanted to take on which was awesome!

So I dont think we will be mobilized to become service missionaries or anything, and all the members are safe so we will just move on as normal!

it was a crazy week though! Super fun but crazy

Thats really cool you were able to go to their homecoming and even see my trainer! I saw a ton of my friends in the picture you sent. I cant believe so many of them are already home haha

What is wheel to wheel racing? It sounds like fun!!

Im glad all of you are enjoying summer! Its getting hot here in Hiroshima! I love you guys!
